Pre-show dinner before Hamilton. The Davis is just down the street from the Hult Performance Center so it was the perfect location. (Apparently other showgoers thought so too because next table over was a charming group of women who had just finished watching the show and were raving about it. Our tables started comparing notes about the different cities that we had seen Hamilton in: Chicago, San Francisco, London, New York. It was a lovely spontaneous community moment bathing in the happiness of being lucky enough to catch Hamilton while in Eugene -- that set the tone for dinner. Over two years since first visit. Wondering how things have evolved in this iconic kitchen. Lucked out bc they were sampling appetizers for the new 2025 menu being prepped by the new Head Chef "Willy" Wilton. Young and super charming, he even came out to see how we liked his new dishes. Amazing Ahi Tuna Crudo served on orange supreme with passion fruit & olive oil -- the dish was so fresh it arrived like harbinger of spring -- our table inhaled it. Salmon Bites, for those of us who have spent some time in the South: reminiscent of hush puppies and fritters. Incredible flavor with the right texture. We tried to make it last, but honestly the first bite proved too delicious and we popped the rest into our mouths. The new Beet Salad is deliciously honest: naked except for being bathed lightly in olive oil, honey, lemon and a beautiful balsamic that proves more than decorative drizzled over the chèvre cheese. Perfect for anyone on the fence about beets. The new version of Deviled Eggs ($7) is flavored with roasted Leeks and bell pepper, topped with Bacon and garnished with a slice of radish and a fresh sprig of parsley. It was a "get in my mouth...and don't talk to me till I'm done," moment. These actually won over someone in our party who don't even like deviled eggs. So maybe don't skip them. If these appetizers are a taste of things to come, the next era of The Davis is in the right hands with Chef Wilton. Of course, had go for the half dozen oysters on the half shell (6/$20): ginger cider mignonette was smooth and refreshing with the freshly shucked oysters. (The best priced half dozen oysters in town?) We had pre-ordered a bottle of brut rosé from the house of Thierry Triolet chilled. They were ready for us. Glasses were chilled upon request. Super classy service. When we decided to go with a second bottle with our entrées, took a recommendation from the owner: the 2018 "Gastronome" a premier cru by Pierre Gimonnet & Fils. Just Wow. That bottle went quickly once the cork was popped. Highly recommend. In hindsight we should've started with that one. We ordered the pan seared salmon with brussels sprouts on mashed purée ($23), the Blackened Shrimp & Abenaki Corn Grits ($20) with Cheddar, Charred Green Chili Butter, the Steak Frites ($28.00) 9 oz Tres Major Steak w/ House Demi-glaze and Blue Cheese served with fries. Prices are amazing. Overall what blew us away when the entrées arrived were exceptionally well prepared the plates were -- steak frites were tender and juicy, salmon was the moist and the bite gave in just the right way, and the cheesy grits that come with the tender shrimp have a subtle kick and remain the best grits I've had in the PNW (fight me). There is a reason others rave about the quality and caliber of entrées here. The portions were just right, too. It was time for the show so we had to give up on dessert but what a memorable pre-show dining experience. A word on their excellent service: Our server saucily introduced himself as "famous Amos" and the OG owner Tom was in the house, magically attending to us and all the tables around us with near-psychic awareness and the seasoned warmth and ease of a master professional. Definitely plans to return the next time we have a performance to catch at the Hult.

I came to this restaurant because it was near my hotel, and it was sooooo good! It has a great open floor plan and a very nice vibe, and the food is delicious! I had the cheese tortellini and my son had the bacon Mac and cheese. Both were absolutely delicious. Our server Frances was delightful and if I were not an out of town guest, I would come back next week. If you're looking for a great date night, business dinner, or night out with friends, don't walk...RUN to the Davis Restaurant and Bar!

An oasis in a difficult downtown corridor, Davis never disappoints. The food is always good, the wine selection is terrific and the service is awesome. I had shrimp and grits, well seasoned and a generous portion for a"small plate." Husband had steak frites and really enjoyed it. Great experience overall, highly recommend.

Outstanding dining experience. Food-Blackened Shrimp, Abenaki Corn Grits, Cheddar, Charred Green Chili Butter Fabulous! I had never had proper grits. WOW couldn't get enough! My partner had the Salmon Filet, Yukon Potato Puree, Roasted String Beans, Summer Corn Chanterelle Vinaigrette. Service-Wonderful attention to detail. Our server made me one of the best martinis and I am very picky about my martinis! Fun Christmas music playing selections from movie scores to Elvis classics. All playing at the perfect volume. We live in Salem and were down for a show at the Hult. Can't wait to get back to this great resturant.

One of the best restaurants in Eugene. I had the lamb schwarma and it was thoughtfully prepared with a nice balance of creamy humus and pickled vegetables. Great burger and chicken wings too. Mixed drinks were tasty. Friendly professional service and a nice interior. Worth checking out.

Stop in here on a recommendation and could not have been happier! First course was crispy Brussel sprouts with lemon slices and green olive - hands down the best Brussels I have ever had! Our mains were a burger (fantastic) and the salmon entree - truly amazing! The chef here needs some kudos!

I had a good experience at the Davis the other night for dinner. The menu had a lot of various options like burgers, chicken pho, shrimp and grits, steak, and even oysters which I really appreciated. Something for everyone. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating. It was my friend's 21st birthday and she brought out candles on the sliders she ordered which was so cute and sweet. Although, the ambiance is what makes this restaurant really stand out. Decorative lanterns and hanging lights all around as well as some really nice artwork. Romantic, cozy, rustic, vibes. Would be a cute spot for a date night. The food does take a while to come out so order some appetizers or drinks to start! Portions are pretty big though. I loved the kale Caesar salad if you are looking for a lighter option. It was super cheesy and had a yummy crispy bread piece on top. My friends said the Mac and cheese was delicious too! Overall, great spot for a leisurely meal.

A girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a lovely sit down dinner before heading over to The Hult Center to scream out heads off at RuPaul's Werq the World Tour. Making reservations was very easily done through the website. We decided to split the fungi fries, the beet salad, and the four cheese tortellini. We also both selected a drink from their mocktails selection. She got the hibiscus kiss while I ordered the spicy cucumber mock-a-rita. I am not exaggerating when I saw that this was one of the best food spread I have had in awhile. The star of the show was the beet salad! Now I usually can't stand cucumbers, but I was surprised to see that I didn't mind them in this dish. They were such a nice refreshing compliment with the creamy dressing and smoky roasted veggies that I didn't even notice them. Also I so appreciate there being a mini mocktail menu. My mock-a-rita was delicious. I have eaten at The Davis a few times before and had typically a moderate experience. However, on this evening it was exceptional! Looking forward to this being a regular pre event dinner spot.
